Coffee County deputies tried to stop a vehicle on Oct. 20 that matched the description of one involved in a reported altercation on Jeff Lewis Road. The driver, identified as Laquavious Tequan Douglas of Waycross, refused to stop and sped away, deputies said.

During the chase, authorities said Douglas drove on the wrong side of the road, traveled through an active school zone and reached speeds of 124 mph, deputies said.

Deputies performed a Precision Immobilization Technique, or PIT, maneuver near Riverbend Estate Road. The maneuver brought the chase to an end when Douglas’ vehicle overturned.

Douglas was taken for medical evaluation and transported to the Coffee County Jail after being medically cleared.
