ATLANTA — Genki Noodles and Sushi in The Prado is presenting a special charity event and dinner, Genki Gives, on Thursday, January 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. Benefiting Autism Speaks: Georgia Chapter and Children Healthcare of Atlanta's Steps to Grow On, Genki Gives will feature an unforgettable a four-course prix fixe dinner with wine pairings prepared by certified master chef Kevin Walker of Cherokee Town and Country Club for $75 per person.
Guests can also drop by during 7 to 10 p.m. to mix, mingle and enjoy a cocktail at the bar with Atlanta resident Daniel Wilcox of the Baltimore Ravens and celebrity guest bartenders Sully from Dave FM, Thrillist Atlanta editor Michael Jordan, and Stephanie Davis - skirt.com's Atlanta editor and National web editor. "As a business owner it is imperative to gain support of the community in which you operate; in doing so, it is equally important to give back when you can. Genki has participated in charitable events in the past and now it is time to host one of our own. We've chosen two organizations in our community as beneficiaries; one is a program that prevents childhood obesity, Steps to Grow On, and the other is Autism Speaks: Georgia Chapter," says owner, Reid Zeising.
"We encourage everyone who has ever crossed through our doors, those familiar with our restaurants and these organizations to come out and support the community. We have a great event planned with Daniel Wilcox of the Baltimore Ravens, Sully from Dave FM, Michael Jordan of Thrillist Atlanta, Stephanie Davis of skirt! and a fantastic four-course meal by Kevin Walker C.M.C. of Cherokee Town and Country Club," adds Zeising.
Chef Walker is one of just a few certified master chefs in Georgia who has achieved the highest and most demanding level of culinary achievement in the U.S. foodservice industry. A supporter of Autism Speaks, Walker has graciously donated his time and talent for Genki Gives, which is aimed at raising funds and awareness about autism and childhood obesity. His menu, which will play off Genki's Asian-infusion inspired cuisine, includes a "deconstructed" Himalayan roll of grilled lemongrass shrimp, crab salad, avocado, marinated shiitakes, and soy-caramel; miso consommé and lobster wontons; grilled duck breast with a duck leg spring roll, wild rice pancakes and citrus braised bok choy; and the Japanese Napoleon – a five-spice puff pastry with yuzu cream and caramelized nori paper.
