Fireworks Blamed For Georgia Mountain Fire

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — Fire officials said a fire burning in the north Georgia mountains is under control.

The fire on Dug Gap Mountain in Whitfield County has been burning since Sunday. Investigators said they believe fireworks started the fire.

Crews remained on the mountain Thursday for the mop-up phase.

About 10 acres have burned.

Crews will continue to watch the area until it experiences a good rain.
