ELLIJAY, Ga. — Firefighters continued to battle hot spots Monday morning after a fire destroyed a carpet and flooring warehouse in Gilmer County.
The fire hit Talona Mountain Flooring in the 6100 block of Highway 515 in North Ellijay about 6 p.m. Sunday.
One firefighter told Channel 2 Action News reporter Darren Lyn that the 7,000 square foot warehouse was full of combustible material.
"There is an adjacent shopping center next to it, we have been able to keep the fire off of it and protect," said Chief Tony Pritchett of the Gilmer County Fire Department. "Right now all the fire has been kept to the main structure where the fire occurred."
More than three dozens firefighters were called to the scene and could be at the warehouse until Monday afternoon.
