Family Fears Missing Girl Being Exploited

ATLANTA,None — The family of a 12-year-old honor student is asking for the public's help in locating the missing girl.

Marissa Kamile Sims is described as an A-B student and active church member. Her family said she is also vice president of her middle school class.

Marissa was last seen May 11. Police told Channel 2 Action News reporter Linda Stouffer that they believe the girl is a runaway. Family and friends are concerned that she is being exploited by a child exploitation ring. They said they have received tips that Marissa was seen with older adults on several occasions.

"We know that the mean streets of Atlanta are no place for a 12-year-old child," the family said in a statement.

If you have information on Marissa's whereabouts, call police at 404-613-9108 or dial 911.
