COBB COUNTY, Ga.,None — A former Marietta nurse convicted in a string of sex attacks was sentenced Friday afternoon to life plus 25 years.
In April, 47-year-old Paul Serdula was found guilty of sexually assaulting dozens of unconscious patients and recording the attacks. A Cobb County jury found Serdula guilty on all counts he was facing.
The judge sentenced Serdula to life plus 25 years.
Serdula worked at medical offices across metro Atlanta as a certified registered nurse anesthetist. He was initially charged in November 2009 with hiding a camera in the women’s bathroom of a Cobb County dental office where he worked. The next week, Serdula was arrested on charges that that he videotaped himself assaulting a 15-year-old girl under anesthesia at the Galleria dental office.
Channel 2's Ross Cavitt attended Serdula's sentencing hearing, where witnesses explained the impact of their experiences.
"I was horrified. I mean, how do you explain what that feels like? That's your worst nightmare as a woman," one witness said.
Serdula's ex-wife was one of the witnesses lined up for testimony.
