ATLANTA — A 20-year-old former college student severely injured in a hit-and-run crash in 2013 is back in the ICU after suffering several seizures.
Emily Bowman’s family says she had four seizure-like episodes Saturday and was taken to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta.
Bowman suffered irreparable brain damage from the crash, has only limited movements and just started speaking again earlier this year.
However, her family says she hasn’t had any seizure activity since the crash, so this is new territory for them.
The family says Emily seemed fine Saturday afternoon. In a post on Facebook they said they went to check on her and noticed something was wrong.
“I saw Emily with her left arm bent at elbow somewhat drawn back say behind her a little and her left hand was all stretched out all 5 fingers and her head was turned to the right somewhat and her face on the right side looked flushed,” said the post.
The family says they called 911 immediately. She suffered another seizure before the ambulance arrived, one in the ambulance and another at the hospital while they were doing a CT scan.
Sunday the family said they planned to see a neurologist at the hospital.
In the post on Facebook, her family asked for prayers to help them find out why the seizures are happening.
