Douglasville Man Found Guilty Of Murdering Ex

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County jury has found a Douglasville man guilty Wednesday of murdering his former girlfriend.

The jury found 21-year-old Mathew Wilkins guilty of killing 16-year-old Marlisa Wells at her grandparent's Austell home in January 2008.

Police said she died of blunt force injury to her head and knife wounds to her head and neck. Wells was also found with a fork sticking out of her back.

Marvin and Charlotte Wells were not home when their granddaughter was killed.

The Marietta Daily Journal reported that Wells' cousin told police she had spoken to her the night before her death. She said Wilkins was planning to visit Wells to discuss her possible pregnancy.

Wilkins is expected to be sentenced next week and faces a minimum of life in prison.
