ATLANTA — A retired Delta Airlines mechanic is flying high after winning a massive Fantasy 5 prize. Steven Reeves of Griffin matched all five winning numbers in the Jan. 14 Fantasy 5 drawing, winning a $679,167 top prize.
Reeves said his wife, Judy, was asleep when he discovered his win. Reeves tapped her on the shoulder to share the good news. "She said, ‘Won what?' It didn't take her but a minute to jump out of bed," he said.
Winning numbers from the drawing were: 5-18-25-26-33. Reeves, 63, purchased his winning Quik Pik ticket at Orchard Hill Food Mart on Macon Road in Orchard Hill.
The lucky lottery winner has four adult children with his wife and has been retired from Delta Air Lines as a mechanic since 2002.
"I'm going to pay off my mortgage," he exclaimed. "We're going to buy new cars and share some of it with the kids and family."
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the winning jackpot tickets will share the bonus. Orchard Hill Food Mart will receive a $14,000 retailer incentive bonus.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
