WOODSTOCK, Ga. — A tip from a Channel 2 viewer helped police identify a man and woman suspected in a series of thefts at a local fitness chain.
Police said Maureen Helen Tucker, 46, and Brian David Baker, 48, both of Marietta, stole wallets and keys from gym lockers and then took the victims' cars.
Tucker was taken into custody on Friday and warrants have been issued for Baker, police said.
One of the thefts occurred at LA Fitness on Eagle Drive in Woodstock. The victim in that case told Channel 2 that his wallet and car keys disappeared and when he went to the gym's parking lot, his prized Chevy pickup was gone.
"I had to look like five times to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. I couldn't believe it was gone," said Brian Albrecht.
Police said the duo racked up $3,000 in purchases at a Target and Walmart in Woodstock, buying vacuum cleaners, a microwave, televisions, iPods and GPS devices.
The duo was caught on surveillance video.
Sandy Springs police told Channel 2 that the same suspects may have stolen two more cars from an LA Fitness on Mount Vernon Road.
All the victims of the locker thefts did not lock their lockers, police said.
