Caregiver Accused Of Spanking Patient

COBB COUNTY, Ga.,None — A caregiver was caught hitting a woman with Alzheimer’s disease, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

The incident happened between 4 and 5 p.m. May 28 at the St. Benedict’s Personal Care home in Mableton, where the victim is a resident, Cobb County police said.

Sabrina Benton, of Atlanta, was watching the patient, who “was trying to walk out of the room and away from the accused,” police said. They said Benton hit the patient to get her to sit in a chair in the kitchen.

A woman visiting another resident witnessed Benton spank the patient five times with an open hand on her backside, according to the warrant.

Benton was charged with a felony against mentally disabled elders. She was being held at the Cobb County Jail on $5,000 bond.
