DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police searched for three people wanted in a double shooting. Police said the gunmen robbed and shot a couple selling candy at the Candler Crossings Apartments in Decatur.
The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. Monday. Police said they planned to follow up on several leads Tuesday. Meanwhile, the victims, known as the Candy Man and Candy Lady, are in the hospital.
Witnesses who live at the Candler Crossings Apartments said they heard four gunshots.
"I immediately grabbed my nephew and nieces and told everyone to get down and lock the door," said witness Montay Carter.
Police said the man and woman were the victims of a robbery and shooting.
"I saw the young lady when she came out. She was still mobile but she was shot in the arm," said Carter.
The gunmen shot the man more than once, police said.
When officers arrived on the scene, they began searching for the robbers. Witnesses said the men were seen running away from the complex.
"Right now everyone is pretty much just nervous," said Carter.
Police haven't said what the men took, but according to witnesses, Monday's robbery was not the first time someone held up the couple.
One witness said someone robbed the couple six months ago.
A description of the robbers has not been released.
Police said one of the victims is in critical condition and one is in stable condition.
