Police were called to the Burger King restaurant on Highway 92 on Saturday just before 8:30 p.m.

According to restaurant employees, a man entered the restaurant, followed an employee into a restricted area and began removing money from an open safe. Once employees spotted the suspect, he ran out of the area and attempted to leave the restaurant, police said.

Officers said employees and a customer struggled with the robber in an effort to keep him from fleeing the restaurant. The thief was able to break free and flee in a small black extended cab pickup truck, possibly a GMC Sonoma or Chevrolet S-10, which had visible damage to the passenger-side exterior mirror, police said.

Officials said in addition to looking for the robber, they would also like to speak with the Good Samaritan.

Anyone with information about the crime or identity of the robber or his vehicle is asked to call Woodstock Police detectives at 770-592-6030 or 770-592-6021. Callers can remain anonymous.
