ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia football mascot Uga VIII passed away early Friday, the University of Georgia confirmed.
The pure white English Bulldog had been diagnosed with lymphoma in early January.
UGA VIII took over as UGA's official mascot in October 2010.
He served the final six regular season games.
Russ will serve again as the interim mascot. Russ served as interim mascot prior to Uga VIII being introduced.
UGA VII died of a heart attack in 2009.
