ROSWELL, Ga.,None — A pair of Alpharetta brothers, who police are calling serial DVD thieves, were arrested Tuesday afternoon.
2 Brothers Arrested In Series Of DVD Thefts
Roswell police said Alan and Keith Adams were caught in the act at a Roswell Target store on Woodstock Road.
"They were running out with over a thousand dollars' worth of DVDs," Roswell police officer Lisa Holland told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik.
She said surveillance videos showed the brothers stuffing a basket full of DVDs. When store loss prevention officers confronted them, they ran out of the door, Holland said.
She said she was eating lunch around the corner when the call went out. She arrived at the parking lot in time to help arrest Alan Adams, but his brother got away, Holland said.
"He dropped his car keys in the parking lot, so they had possession of his vehicle. They knew he wouldn't be able to get away," Holland said. "Sure enough, he came back to the parking lot to retrieve his car."
Holland said the Adams brothers have been around the block.
"There's other reports from other Target stores, and they have surveillance matching the same description," she told Petchenik.
Milton police confirmed they have another Target DVD shoplifting case against the brothers. Holland believes they were selling them on the black market.
"DVDs are easy to sell. They're sealed. People know they're not copied, and they don't have serial numbers so you can't track them," she said.
The Adams brothers face felony counts of shoplifting.
