Bobcat operator injured when equipment falls into hole

LILBURN, Ga. — A man was taken to the hospital after the bobcat he was driving fell into an eight-foot hole.

Firefighters responded to the accident at a construction site near the Walmart on Lawrenceville Highway in Lilburn.

Police say the operator of the bobcat was conscious, alert and breathing when they arrived. He was able to get himself out of the bobcat and was kneeling inside the hole when the fire department arrived.

Crews put a ground ladder into the hole and the man was able to climb out on his own.

Police say he appeared to have only minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
