ATLANTA — A new statue honoring Martin Luther King Jr. will soon be on display in Atlanta.
A Channel 2 Action News photographer got a sneak peek of the statue as it was being built on Monday.
Depicting King’s famous “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech, the statue be displayed in the Rodney Cook Sr. Peace Park in Atlanta after the April 1 unveiling.
Stan Mullins also contributed to the statue, according to a news release.

On April 1, the World Peace Revival and King Center will team up to honor King’s legacy with a “Peace Walk” at Rodney Cook Sr. Peace Park.
The event will include a day full of events in remembrance of King’s legacy of peace and unity and will end with the unveiling of the new statue.
Three days later, Atlanta and the nation will mark 55 years since King’s assassination in Memphis.
