ATLANTA — BJ's Wholesale Club announced Wednesday its closing three of its eight metro Atlanta stores.
The Massachusetts-based company said business has not met expectations at stores in Austell, McDonough and Norcross.
BJ's, similar to Costco, offers discounted goods to its members of items sold in bulk or quantities larger than a local supermarket.
The stores will remain open until Jan 17. Gas stations at the three locations will remain open until the gas supply runs outs.
BJ's members who use these clubs should receive a letter in the mail with additional information, including how to receive a full membership refund, according to a spokesman. Employees who are losing their jobs are receiving help re-entering the job market.
Five BJ's locations remain open in metro Atlanta. They are located in Conyers, Cumming, East Point, Newnan and Woodstock.
