ATLANTA,None — Atlanta police evacuated a Wells Fargo Bank on Northside Parkway Wednesday morning after someone heard a suspicious ticking sound coming from a night deposit box at the bank.
Ticking Sound At Bank Prompts Evacuation
It was probably five after 9, and an Atlanta police officer walked in, deep voice and said that everyone must clear the building, and the Kinkos people and I looked at each other like Kinkos? Really? said witness Chris Plunkett.
Plunkett was one of several people near the intersection of West Paces Ferry Road and Northside Parkway who had to grab what they could and get out of the businesses near the Wells Fargo.
They were trying to stop people from going to Chick-Fil-A; it was pretty chaotic, Plunkett said.
Atlanta police said at about 9 a.m. Wednesday Wells Fargo bank employees reported hearing a ticking noise from their night deposit box.
Police called in the bomb squad, and close to 10:45 a.m. police sent a robot to the bank.
Im thinking that in today's climate a lot of people are upset about many causes and find some way to strike back, I mean who knows, Plunkett said.
Shortly after 12 p.m. police left the bank saying there was nothing found.
