MARIETTA, Ga. — Dozens of people getting new tattoos, a bikini contest, Georgia's only sword swallower showcasing his skill; it's another day at the Atlanta Tattoo Arts Festival.
Sacred Heart Tattoo presented the 15th annual Atlanta Tattoo Festival at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Marietta over the weekend. The event featured a select group of world-class artists showcasing a variety of styles and techniques. The festival included live tattooing, tattoo contests, book signings, seminars and a bikini contest.
In conjunction with the 15th anniversary celebration, the festival added live music performances. Performing artists included the gritty southern rocker group Six Shot Revival, alternative rockers Kadense and hip-hop duo Killer and the Savage with special guest Cool Breeze from the Dungeon Family.
Chris Steele, aka Captain Stab-Tuggo, was also on-hand for the event. Steele is the only sword swallower in Georgia and many people may recognize him from Six Flags Over Georgia. He's performed in the company's Fright Fest Freak Show the last few years. Steele is shop manager and head piercer at Psycho Tattoo when he's not performing.
