Asst. Principal’s Son Accused Of Rape In School Bathroom

SMYRNA, Ga.,None — A 15-year-old freshman accused of raping another teen in the girl's bathroom of a Smyrna high school is being charged as an adult, police said.

The 14-year-old girl told police that Chandler Brookins put her in a headlock and forced her into a girl's bathroom at Campbell High School. Brookins was visiting Campbell High to watch his brother in a basketball game, police said.

Brookins lawyer, Vic Reynolds, said the accusation against him is untrue. Reynolds is also a family friend.

"Certainly because of the gravity of the charges, they're devastated," said Reynolds.

Channel 2's Ross Cavitt learned that Brookins attends Marietta High, where his father is an associate principal.

Cavitt obtained a copy of the arrest warrant, which doesn't state whether investigators have any evidence other than the girl's accusations.

Despite his age, Smyrna police charged Brookins as an adult. His attorney believes the case belongs in the juvenile system.

A representative for the Marietta School District did not comment on Brookins' status, but told Cavitt that the victim also did not attend Campbell High.

Brookins has been released on $50,000 bond.
