EAST POINT, Ga.,None — One person is dead and several others were injured after shots were fired at a block party in East Point Saturday night.

The incident happened at the Hidden Cove apartment complex around 9:30 p.m. It was billed as the 6th Annual RIP Day For Fallen Soldiers.

"We know it was a very, very large party," East Point police Sgt. Cliff Chandler said. "We know there was a lot of people here."

Police said a fight broke out and that's when someone at the party pulled out a gun and started shooting.

"During the fight, an unknown person produced a firearm and began to shoot into the crowd," Chandler said.

Five people were hit, one was killed. The deceased has been identified as Katerious Moody, 18.

"Katerious was a very good student," Moody's aunt, Charline Williams told Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik. "He made you laugh. He was like outgoing, outstanding. You couldn't help but love him."

The family held a vigil and anti-violence rally Sunday night.

Moody's Cousin, Keyshona Fambro, said her cousin's music group had just performed at the party. He was an aspiring rapper and part of a group called the Polo Boys.

"I just seen a big ol' fight," Fambro said.

"Did you see the guns?" Channel 2 Action News reporter Tony Thomas asked.

"Yeah," Fambro responded.

The family told Petchenik that Moody had a baby on the way.

Latrese Smith's cousin was shot in the head, but survived.

"(I'm) very amazed more people weren't injured because there was a lot of gunfire going on," Smith told Thomas.

Police said they were looking for two people in connection with this case, but there wasn't a description for either one.

"We would just like to get some help from the public regarding this case," Chandler said.
