DEKALB COUNTY, Ga.,None — The FBI has released surveillance photos in hopes that someone will come forward with information on the men responsible for shooting and killing an armored car guard outside a Kroger grocery store Tuesday.
The guard has been identified as Garry Castillo, 32, of Lawrenceville, police said.
Channel 2's Ryan Young learned that Castillo had just returned from a tour in Afghanistan.
Family members told Young on Wednesday that Castillo has an 9-year-old son.
The FBI is renewing its plea for people to come forward with information in the shooting.
Castillo was killed when a man opened fire on him outside the Kroger grocery store in the Toco Hills Shopping Center on LaVista Road, just after noon on Tuesday.

Castillo was rushed to an area hospital where he later died.
Castillo was a guard for Garda Cash Logistics.
The shooter fled the scene with one other person, according to police.
The getaway car was later found a short distance away from the grocery store, police said.

Castillo's family sent a statement to Channel 2 Action News saying:
"Garry Castillo was a loving husband, devoted father that served his community and his country. Garry was born in New York. Despite facing a great deal of adversity during his adolescents Garry was fortunate to overcome the odds and eventually meet his wife. Together they moved to Georgia where they would get married, nurture and raise their family. Having been a Georgia native for couple of years Garry enlisted in the Georgia National Guard with aspirations of later beginning a career in Law Enforcement. Garry would eventually serve a tour in Afghanistan and return with hopes to make his dream of starting a career within Law Enforcement a realization. Garry was cherished and respected among his colleagues, friends and family. He leaves behind a devoted wife and a loving 9-year-old son. He was a self-motivated, courageous, caring individual whose smile would light up any room. He was our Hero. He will undeniably be missed by us all and many more. "
The FBI said the shooter took an undisclosed amount of money from the armored truck.
Garda is offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting.
