LOWELL, N.C. — Police are trying to figure out how a car ended up on the train tracks in Lowell.
An Amtrak train heading from Atlanta to Charlotte hit the car just after 5 a.m. Sunday on Robinson Street.
The highway patrol said no one was inside the car. There were 180 passengers on board the Amtrak train. No one was hurt.
Police talked to witnesses, including the train's conductor, who reported seeing a tow truck leave the scene at the time of the crash.
