AHS Helps With Rescue Of 85 Dogs

ATLANTA — Atlanta Humane Society officials said two of their staff members helped rescue 85 dogs from a hoarder in Tennessee.

According to AHS, two staff members helped the ASPCA's field investigations and response team and the Wayne County Sheriff's Department rescue the 85 dogs from an elderly man on June 17.

AHS officials said the man had German Shepherds, Labradors and hound mixes trapped in large pens, chained to posts and some were roaming the yard.

An AHS blog said, "The living conditions were unsanitary and many of the dogs had contracted mange and heartworm."

The dogs were sent to receive medical treatment at either an ASPCA animal hospital in New York, the Nashville Humane Association or the Atlanta Humane Society.
