Witnesses told police they saw a man being put into the back of a car before police arrived.

Police said a subsequent investigation revealed that Brown had been beaten to death and his body removed from the location in an effort to hide the crime.

Brown's body was eventually located in a kudzu patch in Lawrenceville.
