Georgia island makes Oyster's top Hidden Private Islands Where You Can Actually Spend the Night list

ATLANTA — The travel website Oyster.com recently released its list of of the top 10 Hidden Private Islands Where You Can Actually Spend the Night.

Only one island in the United States made the list and that island can be found in Georgia. It's Little St. Simons Island.

"Accessible only by boat, this private barrier island just off the coast of Georgia is the quintessential Southern getaway," Oyster.com noted in its review. "With 10,000 acres of maritime forests and marshlands and seven miles of beaches, this spot is a nature-lover's dream. No more than 32 overnight guests are allowed at a time, so you'll be able to wander freely or kick back on your front porch under the moss-draped trees. Rates start at $400 a night."

"I've never been on a private island before where only 32 people can come and stay and so, it's been wonderful," guest Kimberly Lindman said. "One night, (my husband and I) went out and explored on our own and we were out in the middle of nowhere, with no one around us, just the two of us."

Some of the other islands on the list can be found in the Maldives, Tanzania and Madagascar.
