Police say a carjacking led to a serious crash between two cars in South Fulton County on Monday afternoon.

Investigators told Channel 2 Action News that a woman carjacked someone in a black Dodge Challenger around 1 a.m. Monday at a gas station.

Officers said detectives spotted the car shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the area of Camp Creek Parkway and they called for backup.

As officers attempted to pull over the Challenger, investigators said the woman took off, and crashed with a black Dodge Charger and a white pickup truck at the intersection of Fulton Industrial Boulevard and Boat Rock Road.

A family with two adults and three children were inside the black Charger. Initially authorities said an 8-year-old boy had died but the Medical Examiner told Channel 2 Action News overnight that the child did not die. He is currently on life support at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, per Fulton County police.

All involved in the wreck were taken Grady Memorial Hospital for their injuries. There is currently no information on anyone else’s condition.

East Point police a 21-year-old woman confessed to the carjacking and fleeing from police. She has been charged with vehicular homicide and carjacking. The district attorney says more serious charges could be pending.

Multiple agencies are investigating the crash.
