Channel 2's Matt Johnson spoke with London Buckley, who told him she could have died.

“Yeah it was scary, very scary,” London said.

London said when looked around after the crash she says she was terrified.

“The scariest part was when I crashed and I just saw myself and I kept all looking at my hand, all tore up and stuff,” London told Johnson.

Nine days later she is still in a wheelchair at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

Despite broken bones in her wrist and lower body, she and her mom said they can smile because they know what could have happened.

“I didn’t know if I was going to live or die, but luckily lived,” London said.

She remembers hearing noises coming from the engine just before takeoff at Berry Hill Airport in Stockbridge.

Just minutes later, she said the plane crashed and her grandfather managed to land it in the trees.

“I think that’s why we didn’t die, he landed the plane,” Landon said.

The grandfather, Jamie Thompson, is recovering with broken bones of his own.

Paige Buckley told Johnson her daughter is healing faster than doctors expected.

“We're here for each other and we can do this,” Buckley said.

She hopes to take London home by the weekend and she will be behind her during every step of the long road ahead.

“My whole life, she’s my everything, and in so thankful she's here,” Buckley told Johnson.

The family dog died in the crash and the family said she was like an air bag because she was sitting on London's lap.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help London with her medical expenses.
