Temps reach 90s as scattered showers move through

ATLANTA — Temperatures reached the 90s today for the 63rd time this year.

A ridge of high pressure remains fairly strong across north Georgia and it should create the best coverage of storms north and west of metro Atlanta.

There are some downpours we're tracking Tuesday afternoon and early Tuesday evening.

The ridge weakens as a weakening front approaches Wednesday through the end of the week. With more moisture around, we’ll have a better chance of more scattered showers and storms each day.

Rain chances will be 40 to 60 percent through the end of the week and the start of the weekend, with the greatest possibility north. Temperatures will settle back into the 80s.

There is a chance of some drier and cooler air for the first time this summer by the middle of next week.

The European model is showing low humidity, with lows in the mid to upper 60s and highs in the middle 80s by Aug. 24.
