Temps reach 90s again; Heavy rain possible for afternoon commute

ATLANTA — Temperatures reached the 90s again Wednesday for the 64th time in Atlanta this year.

A ridge of high pressure remains fairly strong across north Georgia. Without any real boundary to focus convection, expect it at random this afternoon. The chance of rain will be about 30 to 40 percent. %

With a tropical air mass in place, heavy rain will be the primary threat, alongside lightning, during the afternoon commute.

The front to the west that’s been dumping unneeded rain in the nation’s heartland and deep South will slowly slide our direction for the end of the week into the weekend, increasing humidity, clouds and the chance of rain but decreasing temperatures into the upper 80s. This is a much-needed rain opportunity, though most will be at random.

Tropical Depression #6 is forecast to become Tropical Storm Fiona Wednesday or Thursday.

The Tropical Depression is located in the east-central Atlantic. There are no threats to land whatsoever forecast for the next five days.
