Grab an umbrella: Scattered showers to continue through the afternoon

Rain is continuing Tuesday afternoon for parts of north Georgia.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said heavy downpours moved through north Georgia in the morning ahead of a cold front. But scattered showers will continue for some through the afternoon.

Here is what to know for Tuesday:

  • Showers, including heavy downpours at times, will last through lunchtime; thunder and lightning possible with these bands
  • Flash Flood Watch for Bartow, Chattooga, Cherokee, Dawson, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Lumpkin, Pickens, Polk, Towns, Union, White until 2 p.m.
  • Drier air will get here as we head into Wednesday -- with more sunshine.
