Periods of rain moving in with the possibility of an isolated storm in south Georgia

ATLANTA — There is a strong chance of rain in metro Atlanta and a chance for storms in other parts of the state on Monday.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan is tracking rain that could touch down in metro Atlanta.

Here is what he forecasts:

  • Cooler temperatures expected Monday with rain expected to continue through 1 p.m.
  • Isolated storms possible in southern Georgia
  • Warmest day of the year expected on Wednesday with temperatures expected to be in the 80s
  • Severe weather outbreak Tuesday-Wednesday over the Mississippi Valley, near where storms touched down last weekend
  • Small risk for an isolated strong or severe storm here later Wednesday into Thursday as a cold front approaches.
