Here comes the heat: Hottest weather of year heading our way

Mother Nature has spared north Georgia from the heat for most of the summer so far. But that is going to change this week.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says the hottest weather of the year is headed our way.

A heat advisory has been issued for several counties until 8 p.m.

Here’s what to know as we head throughout Tuesday:

  • Temperatures won’t beat record highs but mid to upper 90s are likely.
  • Heat index values will approach 105 in some counties
  • More showers and storms are possible again for the afternoon.
