Heavy downpours move through Monday for soggy start to week

ATLANTA — Showers moved through north Georgia Monday and it’s just the start to a soggy week ahead.

Severe Weather Team 2 tracked periods of heavy rain with thunderstorms mixed throughout on Monday. Similar showers and storms will continue throughout the first half of this week.

We’re tracking which areas could see the most rain and storms this week, on Channel 2 Action News.

Here is what to know:

  • A few inches of rain is possible over the next few days.
  • Chances for showers, storms continue Tuesday and Wednesday before drier end to week.
  • Temperatures will continue to warm, reaching near 90 degrees by the weekend

So far this summer since June 1, Atlanta is about 2 inches above average rainfall. We’ll add to that over the next few days, according to Monahan.
