Atlanta set to break record high temp

ATLANTA — Channel 2 meteorologist David Chandley says his forecast high temperature for Atlanta on Thursday would break the record set in the '70s.

Temperatures have been rising all week, with the high forecast to reach 82 Thursday afternoon. The previous record high for March 15 was set at 81 in 1973.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 85 in Athens and Eatonton.

Moving into the weekend, Friday is expected to reach a high of 81 and a low of 61 with a 40 percent chance of showers. Temperatures will remain steady through the weekend with the chance of rain decreasing to 20 percent on Saturday.
