Finally Fall: Cooler, breezy weather ushers in fall temperatures

METRO ATLANTA — If you wondered when the warm temperatures would finally go away and it would feel like fall in Georgia, you are about to find out.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Jennifer Lopez said fall is finally here as a strong front makes its way through the state Saturday morning.

Once it clears, she says you can expect temperatures to stay in the 60′s and slowly cool during the day. Lopez said it will be windy too. Winds are expected to be over 10 miles an hour for most of the day.

Those winds could have an impact on a busy sports day here in metro Atlanta.

The Georgia Bulldogs host Kentucky at 3:30 p.m. in Athens. The weather there should be in the mid-60′s with strong winds and slowly dropping temperatures Lopez said.

The Atlanta Braves open the first game of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Cobb County at Truist Park. Lopez said game time temperatures will be around 60 degrees and drop throughout the game. She said the winds should lighten up a bit after dark. But she also said the northwest breeze may carry the baseball just a little bit farther at the ballpark so watch out for perhaps a few more home runs.

Lopez said it will stay cool for most of the upcoming week with temperatures in the upper 40′s and low 50′s at night. During the day it will climb into the lower 70′s or what she said “Is the perfect weather week”.
