Areas of Moderate to locally heavy rain will continue this morning, generally along and east of interstate 75. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated near the North Carolina state-line such as the Smoky Mountain National Park and Cherokee National Forest. Rainfall between 1 and 2 inches are expected with heavier amounts possible near the state-line. Localized flooding is possible. The heaviest rain bands will effect the area between 5 and 9 am this morning. In addition, northwest winds will strengthen this morning with gust to near 35 mph will be possible over some of the higher elevations of the eastern Tennessee mountains.
