Northeastern Rabun County in northeastern Georgia... Southeastern Macon County in western North Carolina... Southwestern Transylvania County in western North Carolina... Southeastern Jackson County in western North Carolina... Northwestern Oconee County in Upstate South Carolina... * Until 145 AM EDT. * At 948 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a developing area of nearly stationary showers stretching from northeast Rabun County along the North Carolina and South Carolina border from Highlands to near Sapphire. Radar indicated rainfall rates of one-half to three- quarters of an inch per hour, and this renewed heavy rainfall was impacting locations that have already received 2 to 3 inches of rain over the past 24 hours. * Some locations that may experience flooding include... Highlands, Cashiers, Lake Toxaway, Mountain Rest, Sapphire, Bad Creek, Pine Mountain, Whiteside Mountain, Gorges State Park and Lake Jocassee. Flooding will be most likely along and near the Chattooga River and King Creek along the border between Rabun and Oconee Counties. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. If heavy rainfall continues, the advisory may be upgraded to a Flood Warning. People in flood prone areas, especially along creeks and small streams, should prepare to move to higher ground if a Flood Warning is issued.
