Georgia outslugs Florida 34-7, clinches SEC East title

Georgia Bulldog fans who got an early start to halftime missed quite a show. The annual Georgia vs. Florida game in Jacksonville changed completely in less than two minutes.

During that span, the Bulldogs forced a fumble and scored on the next play. They picked off a pass and scored on the next play. They picked off another pass and it was returned for a touchdown.

Before you could get that hot dog at the concession stand, the game went from 3-0 to 27-0. The number one ranked Bulldogs cruised from there, beating the Gators 34-7.

Stetson Bennett IV, threw for 161 yards for the Bulldogs. He threw one touchdown, a 36-yard thing of beauty to Kearis Jackson in the end zone but he was also intercepted twice. Zamir White had a big game on the ground, running for 105 yards and a touchdown.

The win Georgia improved to 8-0, 6-0 in the SEC and couple with Kentucky’s loss to Mississippi State Saturday night, clinches SEC East title for UGA. If the SEC Championship game were to be played today, the Bulldogs would play Alabama at Mercedes-Benz stadium.

With four games left in the season, they are in the drivers seat with only two more SEC matchups left. The Dawgs hold a two game lead over the Wildcats and hold the tie breaker after beating Kentucky two weeks ago.

Next Saturday Georgia hosts the Missouri Tigers in Athens.

Keep an eye out this week at the College Football Playoff committee will be releasing their first poll of the season. The Bulldogs are expected to be at the top of that list.
