• WSB-TV to broadcast Georgia vs. Georgia Southern

ATLANTA - Saturday, November 17th at 1:30 p.m., the Georgia Bulldogs play the Georgia Southern Eagles and only Channel 2 WSB-TV will televise the game.

Local coverage starts Saturday at 10 a.m. with “Bulldogs Game Day” an all-access look at this week’s game featuring Bulldog players and coaches. The weekly program is anchored by Zach Klein, Channel 2’s sports director, along with Anthony Amey and Chuck Dowdle.

“These two teams rarely play each other and the game couldn’t come at a more important point in the season for UGA,” said Klein. “From pre-game coverage to kickoff, to every second of the game, Channel 2 will bring Bulldogs fans all the exciting action.”

Channel 2’s coverage continues at 12:30 p.m. with a special edition of Channel 2’s “SportsZone.” Klein is joined by Channel 2 Action News anchors Jovita Moore and Fred Blankenship, and former Bulldog Quarterback D.J. Shockley provides his insight and analysis.

Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia. Veteran sportscaster Bob Neal and Darryl “DJ” Jones, former UGA standout player, will handle the game’s play by play coverage with Klein reporting from the field.

“We are very proud of our station’s pledge to cover local sports here in our state of Georgia,” said Tim McVay, vice president and general manager of Channel 2 WSB-TV. “Channel 2 is the official home of University of Georgia sports and that is a badge of honor for us. To have a football game available for us to locally produce is a dream come true. We can’t wait to bring our viewers all the action versus the Georgia Southern Eagles,” added McVay.

Channel 2 WSB-TV and the University of Georgia announced the matchup would be televised locally under the guidelines which allow each Southeastern Conference school to produce one game per year outside the conference CBS and ESPN contracts.

“WSB has been a great partner over many years and this is another way that partnership has come to the forefront,” said UGA Director of Athletics Greg McGarity. “We look forward to bringing this special game to our many fans in the WSB footprint around the state.”

Channel 2, WSB-TV is the number one rated station in Atlanta and has a coverage area that includes the 53 county Atlanta TV market. The game will also be carried on both DirecTV and DISH.
