ATLANTA - In less than two months, the defending NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons will host the Green Bay Packers in the first regular season NFL game at the brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
And if you’re anything like us, you cannot wait for that game.
Before that Sept. 17 matchup, fans will have several opportunities to check out the new home of the Falcons.
The team will play two preseason games, there will be two college football games (including the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic between Florida State and Alabama) and Atlanta United has three matches in a one-week span.
The Falcons announced that the high-tech retractable roof will not be ready for the first game. The roof will remain closed for the first few games.
Two thousand people are working around the clock to ensure everything else is ready to go for the fist preseason game.
As a special treat, Channel 2 Sports Director Zach Klein got a behind-the-scenes look at the facility on Tuesday, and let’s just say, it looks ready!
