Major League Baseball delays season, MLS suspends games over coronavirus

Major League Baseball has decided to push back their season at least two weeks. That means the Atlanta Braves will not start playing until mid-April and their spring training is immediately over.

“This action is being taken in the interestes of the safety and well-being of our players, clubs and our millions of loyal fans,” a statement said.

Major League Soccer is following in the footsteps of the NBA and has suspended the season.

League sources confirmed to Channel 2 Sports Director Zach Klein that Atlanta United and Major League Soccer suspended the season.

The MLS made the official announcement shortly after. The suspension will last for 30 days.

Atlanta United was scheduled to play a home game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Saturday against Kansas City.

CONCACAF also canceled the team’s Champions League game vs Club America next Wednesday in Kennesaw.

"Given the developments last night, including new guidance issued by countries, cities and states, we have made the decision to suspend the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League with immediate effect. We are continuing to discuss arrangements for other upcoming Concacaf competitions and will make a further public statement in due course.

The National Lacrosse League and Georgia Swarm are suspending the season until further notice.
