Woman attacked and stabbed in Hall County home invasion

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Detectives in Hall County are looking for a suspect who broke into a home near Clermont on Wednesday morning and stabbed a young woman.

The home invasion happened around 9 a.m. in the Avalon Hills subdivision off of Bethel Road.

Investigators said the man got in through the open garage and then confronted the victim in the kitchen.

The sheriff's office won't say yet if the man brought the knife with him, or picked it up inside the house.

After stabbing the woman in the lower abdomen, deputies said he robbed the place.

"He went through some part of the house and took unknown items then fled the scene," said Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks of the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

The victim wasn't able to give a good description of the suspect and no other witnesses saw the man run from the scene or get into a waiting car.

Investigators believe the house was a random target and the suspect didn't know the victim.

"The initial investigation indicates they are strangers, we don't think there was any association," said Wilbanks.

The young woman is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone who saw anything suspicious Wednesday morning, or in the days leading up to the crime, to give the agency a call.
