Lyle Cameron Debernardi, 38, of Tellico Plains, was charged with vandalism stemming from the Oct. 13 incident, The Advocate and Democrat of Madisonville reported.

According to Madisonville Police Department Patrolman Thomas Spradlin, he responded to a call that a man had vandalized a car, the newspaper reported.

Spradlin said he encountered Debernardi and two other men. One of the men told Spradlin they had gone to the Monroe County Justice Center to pick up Debernardi, who had just been released, the Advocate and Democrat reported.

The man said Debernardi refused to get in the car and opted to walk to his home. The man said they continued to follow Debernardi to persuade him to enter the vehicle, but the man refused, the newspaper reported.

Spradlin said the man told him Debernardi became angry and kicked the door of the vehicle. The passenger door was severely dented and had a muddy footprint on it, the Advocate and Democrat reported. Spradlin said Debernardi admitted to kicking the door.

Debernardi was arrested again and charged with vandalism, the newspaper reported.
