GEORGETOWN, S.C. — A South Carolina judge sentenced a Georgetown man to life in prison in connection with the sexual assault of a child, authorities said.
According to WMBF and WPDE, Brandon Coakley, 32, agreed to a plea deal Monday in the 2018 sexual assault of a 6-year-old. He received a life sentence for first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child, as well as three years on a domestic violence charge, the news outlets reported.
Georgetown police first learned of the incident in November 2018, when the child’s mother discovered a recording on Coakley’s phone that showed him sexually assaulting the 6-year-old, according to WPDE. Coakley then assaulted the woman when she told him what she had found, authorities said.
