Police arrest truck driver after road-rage shooting incident on interstate

A Florida truck driver is accused of shooting another motorist in an alleged road rage incident on Wednesday that began on an interstate highway in Pennsylvania and ended in western New York, authorities said.

According to a news release from the New York State Police, Ervin B. Stubbs, 34, of Ocala, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and being a fugitive from Pennsylvania.

According to police, the shooting occurred on Interstate 90 in Erie County, Pennsylvania, at about 6 a.m. EDT. The victim, a 42-year-old man from Detroit, was taken to a hospital in Buffalo, New York, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his knee, according to the Erie Times-News.

Police said the wound was not life-threatening and that Stubbs fired the weapon while driving.

Stubbs was located at a Flying J Truck Stop in Pembroke, New York and had a Ruger 9mm handgun, New York State Police said.

It was unclear what led to the alleged shooting.

Stubbs was processed at the State Police station in Batavia and will be turned over to officials with the Pennsylvania State Police to face additional charges, The Buffalo News reported.

The Pennsylvania State Police charged Stubbs with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license and three other counts, the Times-News reported, citing court records.
