Philadelphia community comes out to block looters from breaking into Target store

PHILADELPHIA — Residents of Philadelphia came out in force to stop looters from breaking into their Target store over the weekend.

Dozens of people guarded the doors to the retailer in South Philadelphia through early Monday morning, WPVI reported.

Looting was widespread across the city Sunday, KYW reported. The news station showed aerial video of the line of people trying to block access to the store.

The group, “Stand Up Philly” was accompanied by police officers, WTXF reported. Police told demonstrators to go home since they were breaking curfew.

But that group isn’t the only one trying to help businesses in their community.

Volunteers came out to help clean up damage left behind after protests became violent in Center City Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
