Oregon authorities arrest 2 suspects in Alabama mass shooting that left 7 dead

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. — Two Alabama men are awaiting extradition in an Oregon jail after being charged in connection with a mass shooting in Morgan County earlier this month that left seven people, including one teenager, dead.

The suspects have been identified as John Michael Legg, 20, and Frederic “Ric” Allen Rogers, 23, who were arrested without incident during a traffic stop in Oregon, WAFF reported.

Both men face capital murder charges, are Morgan County natives and knew everyone in the house where the June 5 massacre occurred, AL.com reported.

In a Monday news conference, Morgan County Sheriff Ron Puckett said at least three of the victims and both suspects belonged to their own club, known as the “Seven Deadly Sins.”

According to AL.com, both suspects were tracked to Salem, Oregon, where one man has a relative, and warrants for their arrests were issued June 19. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department in Oregon stopped the pair in a silver/grey Dodge Charger and held them at gunpoint until they were taken into custody.

The shootings occurred at a home in the 500 block of Talucah Road in Valhermoso Springs, just south of Huntsville near the Tennessee River.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office later identified the victims as Tammy England Muzzey, 45, of Valhermoso Springs; Emily Brooke Payne, 21, of Valhermoso Springs; Roger Lee Jones Jr., 19, of Decatur; Jeramy Wade Roberts, 31, of Athens; William Zane Hodgin, 18, of Somerville; and James Wayne Benford, 22, of Decatur.

A 17-year-old female victim was also identified, but her name was not released.
