O, The Oprah Magazine will stop publishing its regular print editions each month after the end of the year, a spokeswoman for publisher Hearst confirmed Monday.
According to The Associated Press, the magazine, launched by media mogul Oprah Winfrey and Hearst in 2000, will have some type of print form in the future, but the last monthly print issue is slated to hit stands in December 2020. After that, the brand will be "more digitally-centric," the spokeswoman told the AP.
In a statement, Winfrey, the magazine's editorial director, said she is "proud of this team and what we have delivered to our readers over the past 20 years."
"I look forward to the next step in our evolution," the statement continued, according to the AP.
Although Hearst did not say why it was ending monthly print publication of the magazine, publishers have struggled with declines in advertising in recent years, the AP reported. The coronavirus pandemic was expected to take an additional toll on print advertising, according to the news agency.
O's circulation is about 2.3 million, according to the Alliance for Audited Media.
